It is difficult to suggest itineraries to a world of people with a vast range of varying interests, when considering that Kakadu in itself is a huge parcel of land with many options of activities to undertake. Kakadu is unique in that it is recognized by its inscription on the world heritage list under the world heritage convention for two values, for its natural and cultural importance. Kakadu is both ecologically and biologically diverse, add to that Kakadu is a living history book in the evolution of aboriginal(bininj) persons. There has been a continuous presence of Aboriginal persons on Kakadu country over the past 40,000 years, Today bininj shape the future of Kakadu as the parks owners and managers. The probable reason for bininj to remain on this country for so long is the unique variety of ecosystems. Dictated by land form variations, each eco system hosts its own special kind of flora and fauna providing a ready supply and variety of food source. The above simple description is the basis of my recommendation that the minimum visit to Kakadu include: - A visit to an aboriginal art site
- Take a boat cruise to view wild life and / or learn about aboriginal culture
- View the enormity and variety of the landscape on a scenic flight.
